The philosophy behind the SoccerPlus Connecticut Elementary Academy is to provide an environment to young players that encourages and promotes creativity, discovery, and inventiveness. The Elementary Academy will allow for young players to be trained by SoccerPlus Staff Coaches prior to playing in a small-sided environment. During the training, players will become more competent and confident in their ability to attack, win 50/50 balls, and score goals. SoccerPlus endorses a small player-to-coach ratio to ensure that all players are receiving individualized attention as well as opportunities to receive maximum levels of touches on the ball during training. After a brief training period at the beginning of training, small-sided games will take place that will allow players to apply their learned skills. It also affords players the opportunity to be creative and to try skills in a risk-free environment.

Jamie, goalkeeper for the SoccerPlus CT U16s, was diagnosed on December 15, 2009 with AML after suffering from "migraine" headaches for almost a month. Jamie will have a total of 5 cycles of chemo treatment. The headaches were the result of pressure building up in her spinal fluid plus irregular cells. After many spinals & treatment in the fluid with chemo, her spinal fluid is clear, the pressure is normal and her headaches are gone. Total treatment should take approx. 6 mos.
